JERSEY RALLY 2017

Watching a rally roadside, is an amazing experience and highly recommended! The speed of the cars, the noise, the crazy locations that people find to get a good viewing spot – it’s all part of the rally experience.

The community spirit and camaraderie, showed the genuine care and and enormous pride amongst the rally drivers. The mechanics got the battered cars back on track with impressive speed and efficiency or as the cars line up for the mandatory scrutineering. There seemed to be a constant, entertaining hustle and bustle, which provided perfect photographic moments.

The survivors were truly formidable! Tearing through the course, round sharp, right-angle turns, perilously close to walls then tearing off at breakneck speed, rotating, leaving only skid marks and belching, black smoke to mark their presence. The guttural change of gears, the superb hand-brake turns, spins and swerves left the spectators breathless with admiration. 

Rally drivers are a breed of their own. They epitomise focus, patience and nerves of steel! No wonder, they are considered to be among the best drivers in the world. Yet there would be no hot-shot performances without highly skilled and organised co-drivers, calling out directions in staccato voices at exactly the right time. These guys are so talented - a combination of instinct, knowledge that is part science, part maths and a whole lot courage.
